What are the benefits of infant massage?

Infant massage supports bonding, helps regulate sleep and digestion, relieves gas and colic, and promotes relaxation for both baby and caregiver.

At what age can I start infant massage with my baby?

You can begin infant massage as early as a few weeks after birth, once your baby is stable and healthy. We offer guidance to adapt techniques for newborns and older infants up to 12 months. However, be aware that once your baby starts crawling, they may be less willing to stay in one place.

What can I expect in an IAMS Infant Massage class?

Each class is relaxed, welcoming, and baby-led. We demonstrate gentle massage strokes while you practice on your baby at your own pace. You’ll learn techniques to support bonding, digestion, sleep, and comfort, all in a supportive and nurturing environment.

Do I need any special equipment or supplies for the class?

All you need is a blanket or towel, and anything your baby may need to stay comfortable (diapers, feeding supplies, etc.). We provide the massage oil and any handouts you'll need. Just bring yourself and your baby!

What is a Tummy Time class and why is it important?

Our Tummy Time classes offer guided support for helping your baby enjoy and benefit from time spent on their tummy. Tummy time builds head, neck, and upper body strength—foundations for rolling, crawling, and motor development. It's also a great time for bonding and play!

My baby doesn’t like tummy time—will this class help?

Yes! Many babies resist tummy time at first, and that’s completely normal. In class, we use gentle techniques, positioning ideas, and playful interactions to help your baby feel more comfortable and enjoy tummy time gradually.

What age is best for starting Tummy Time classes?

You can start as early as a few weeks after birth, once your baby is ready for short, supervised time on their tummy. Our classes are designed for babies from newborn to pre-crawling, and we adjust activities based on your baby's age and stage.

How long is each Infant Massage or Tummy Time session, and how many classes are there?

Each session lasts about 45-50 minutes. The full course runs over 4 weeks, allowing time to learn and practice at a gentle pace, with plenty of repetition and time for questions.

What if my baby cries or needs to feed during class?

That’s absolutely okay! Our classes are baby-centered, which means we follow your baby’s cues. Feeding, soothing, or simply taking a break is always welcome. We’re here to support both of you.
